We were able to catch up with Australian F3 front runner Steel Guiliana after the opening round of the Championship that took place at the Bathurst Motor Festival over the Easter weekend.

Guiliana staked his place as a title contender with hugely quick times, although the results didn’t go his way.  He led race 1 until this incident:

He went onto finish last.  Race two he started mid pack and was fighting his way through the field on a wet track.  In difficult conditions, he was the only car to break into the 2:26 range – going down as low as a 2:26.1,  A long late race safety car though halted his progress.

We caught up and chatted about his weekend, next weekend’s round in Tasmania and the 2013 season.

We have talked to Steel in the past, check out this 2012 interview.

The Australian F3 Championship will take place over seven rounds in 2013.
