Following another dominant weekend at Sydney Motorsports Park in the Australian GT Championship, we caught up with Jack Le Brocq – driver for the Erebus Motorsport Mercedes SLS GT3.

Hi Jack thanks for joining me, your second Australian GT weekend and your second clean sweep.  You must be pleased with your Sydney weekend.

Yeah, definitely ecstatic with how it all went.  I didn’t know how it was going to go – different circuit.  I eased back into it and got my head around the track and car again after eight weeks.  It went really well.

Are you getting a much better feel for the Mercedes now?  Are you still learning the car?

Yeah definitely still learning.  Found out in race one – the hard way – just how crucial tyre management is.  I took that into account in race two.  It really put us on the back foot in race one.  I had to come in early and change the right rear tyre after  I destroyed it early in the race after going too hard, too early.  I am learning a lot every time I go out in the car as it was only my second time in the car so still picking up bits and pieces as I go.

Looking to next time out at Queensland Raceway.  A much different track to the last couple you raced at.  It is a track that should suit Klark Quinn’s Porsche much more.  Do you see another clean sweep at Queensland Raceway.

Yeah, I think so.  I aim to go there and replicate what we have done in the past.  With me driving more and more, I am learning the car more – which will help.  The Mercedes is strong so we should be right – I hope.  We will see what happens.

From the start of 2013 where you didn’t know what was happening to a couple races in F3 now with these results in GT – can you quite believe how it has all gone?

Yeah it has definitely gone from one extreme to the other.  Obviously starting the year not know what we were going to do or if I was going to be driving anything to this.  It is amazing and I am very lucky that the Erebus Academy offered the opportunity to me.  They have helped me out a lot along the way and  I am very grateful and everyone behind the scenes – Luke, Betty, Daniel and more – it has been a great program so far.

Thanks Jack – congratulations on another great weekend at Sydney and we look forward to see how you go at Queensland.

Beautiful – thanks!
