RYAN SIMPSON has extended his Kumho Tyres Australian V8 Touring Car Series points lead with a clean sweep of all three races in this weekend’s round at Queensland Raceway.

The Parramatta-based Falcon driver claimed pole position and victory in Race 1 on Saturday before sealing victory in Races 2 and 3 yesterday.

The victory means the former Formula Ford driver has won all three rounds held so far in 2014 and extended his overall winning streak to six rounds. He remains unbeaten in a Kumho Series round since Winton last year.

Simpson was challenged in the 12-lap Race 2 by rookie Justin Ruggier, whose Eggleston Motorsport Commodore crossed the line second at the end by a narrow margin.

However Ruggier made the jump in the longer, 18-lap final race, sprinting into the lead off the start with Matt Chahda second and Simpson slow off the line and shuffled back to third.

Ruggier’s lead only lasted a few corners as he out-braked himself and ran off the road at Turn 3, rejoining in fifth place as Simpson slipped past Chahda to take second place and within milliseconds the lead – all in the one corner!

Rear end dramas sidelined Chahda soon after while Ruggier recovered to finish second to Simpson in both the race and for the round.
