Dries Vanthoor talks of looking ahead after a tough end to 2017

Dries Vanthoor doesn’t need to be told of the crushing disappointments that racing can provide. Afterall, he was only 10 minutes away from being Blancpain Champion last year before THAT pitstop and the resulting penalty happened to take that away and give it to his WRT teammates.

The cruelty of the Blancpain defeat was partially made up for by an unexpected Bathurst 12 Hours victory, which could be much needed as he enters the 2018 season.

Not everyone can simply just brush off a disappointment like that but Vanthoor is well aware of the team that he is racing with and their history in this sport.

That reputation will spur him on even more to avenge the disappointment at the end of 2017.

The WRT package is strong this year with the three leading cars of the group – the #17 of Stuart Leonard/Robin Frijns, the #2 Will Stevens/Vanthoor and the #1 of Chris Meis/Alex Riberas all having a strong chance of taking the title.

They will have to fend off the strong looking Santeloc team and the four Akka ASP Mercedes, among others for the crown.

But something tells me that WRT are up for the challenge.
