Matt Edwards never expected to win Ypres Rally – where the Prestone British Rally Championship visited Belgian tarmac.
It wasn’t that the M-Sport driver didn’t have the pace, it was more that he had issues throughout the rally. At one point, after suffering continual power steering problems, he was unsure if he would make it through the next loop and was obviously very frustrated.
But he and his team persevered and made it through. Luck was also on his side with Keith Cronin losing the lead after suffering a puncture on the final stage.
It was an extraordinary rally for Edwards and here, he tells us about it all…
