The Rally van Haspengouw has been a car breaking opener to the JobFIXers Belgian Rally Championship. It has been a great start for the new Volswagen Polo R5 with Kris Princen and Cedric Cherain holdig 1-2.

Patrick Snijers in the thrid Polo didn’t make it past the first kilometre of the second stage, crashing on the second corner after locking the brakes and going straight on into bank. He broke his steering and damaged the cooling on his car and the rally ended there for him.

For others, there was drama. Guilliame de Mevius had to retire early due to suspension issues on his Citroen and Adrain Ferenemont had to retire after a driveshaft failure on his Skoda. Aditionally Vincent Verschueren had a dramatic tyre falure on his Skoda, losing around 30 seconds and Gunter Monnens also had an off in his Skoda.
