G-Cat Racing’s Porsche 911 GT3 R will contest the Intelligent Money British GT Championship full-time in 2020.

Shamus Jennings and Greg Caton team up in the same Porsche that joined the series halfway through last season. The news also brings the current total of GT3 manufacturers to six after previous announcements confirmed that Aston Martin, Bentley, Lamborghini, McLaren and Mercedes-AMG would all return.

The Am/Am pairing made several GT Cup outings towards the end of 2019 in a bid to better familiarise themselves with the 911 GT3 R after stepping up from Carrera Cup GB. Both are now eager to test themselves against British GT’s seasoned amateur contingent on a full-time basis.

“I’m looking forward to our first full season in British GT,” said Jennings. “We both enjoy the championship’s endurance format, which provides something different to what we’ve been used to in the past. As an all-amateur crew we’re realistic about the final result, but that’s not what we’re here for. British GT’s amateur environment is very competitive and provides a serious benchmark for us to aim at.”

Caton agrees: “Yeah, we fully enjoyed our experience last year in the limited number of races we entered. I personally enjoyed the competitive atmosphere surrounding the championship, which pushes you harder to find the limit. As Shamus said, we’re here to have fun but also measure ourselves against some of the UK’s best amateur racing drivers. And a full-season entry gives us a better chance of doing that on a more consistent basis.”

2020’s full-season entry list will be revealed during British GT’s media day at Snetterton on March 3. Fans can attend the event for free.
