After the extremely exciting and highly occupied Rally van Haspengouw, the Belgian rally championship has come to a halt due to the outbreak of the corona virus. The Jobfixers Belgian Rally Championship will of course be continued when the National Security Council gives the green light to sporting events.
With the Spa Rally, the TAC Rally, the Rally of Wallonia and the Sezoensrally, four of the nine races on the calendar of the Jobfixers Belgian Rally Championship have been postponed or canceled. Everyone naturally wonders when the championship can be continued and how many matches will still be on the calendar. Questions that no one can answer at the moment.
“The health and safety of our participants, organizers, their employees and the spectators comes first. Therefore, of course, we follow the guidelines of the National Security Council. The corona measures apply until April 19 for the time being. No one knows how long afterwards We have to wait and especially hope that everyone stays healthy, “explains Chris Courteyn, the promoter of the Jobfixers BRC, who expresses his condolences to the affected family of Jeff Steensels. “First of all, our condolences to the family of Jeff Steensels, Racing Team Mustache and to the entire organization of the Sezoens Rally. With Jeff Steensels, the strong man behind the Sezoens rally for more than 40 years,
Only when the National Security Council gives the green light and considers it safe to organize rallies will it be decided how the Jobfixers Belgian Rally Championship 2020 will continue.
“As promoter of the Jobfixers BRC and in close consultation with the RACB, we will be as flexible as possible with regard to the organizers who want to organize their postponed match this season on a different date. We will support the organizers as much as possible. That is why we are pleased that the Spa Rally has already found another date, December 12-13, “continues Stevy Courteyn.
Until further notice, the next race on the Jobfixers Belgian Rally Championship calendar is the Renties Ypres Rally scheduled for June 26 and 27.
