Extreme H joins Hydrogen UK to accelerate Britain’s hydrogen-powered future

Share

Extreme H, the world’s first hydrogen-powered off-road racing series, has officially joined Hydrogen UK, the UK’s leading industry association driving the advancement and adoption of hydrogen as a key solution for a net-zero future.

This new membership strengthens Extreme H’s commitment to using motorsport as a testbed and showcase for clean hydrogen innovation, inspiring industry collaboration, real-world R&D and public awareness around sustainable mobility and the green energy transition.

Hydrogen UK is an industry-led network that brings together major players across the hydrogen value chain, from production and storage to end users in transport and heavy industry, championing the scale-up of hydrogen infrastructure and investment throughout the UK.

As a member, Extreme H will collaborate with hydrogen producers, technology pioneers, policymakers and other forward-thinking organisations to share insights from motorsport R&D and help advance the role of hydrogen in decarbonising mobility and beyond.

Ali Russell, Managing Director of Extreme H, said: “We are proud to join Hydrogen UK at such a critical time for the UK’s clean energy ambitions. Extreme H will be a powerful global platform to prove what hydrogen can do in high-pressure, high-performance environments, pushing the boundaries of technology, building public trust in hydrogen solutions, and accelerating the path to net zero.

“Collaboration is key to unlocking a resilient hydrogen economy, and we look forward to working with Hydrogen UK’s members to help turn ambition into action.”

Set to launch later this year, Extreme H will be the world’s first hydrogen powered motorsport. The Pioneer 25, the single design and purpose built hydrogen fuel cell race car will take on some of the planet’s most extreme terrains, along with its event power grid, will act as a unique live lab for hydrogen mobility and green logistics.

Extreme H’s unique global platform aims to facilitate collaboration across the entire hydrogen value chain, from clean hydrogen production and storage, to transportation, infrastructure and final deployment in real-world applications. By bringing together innovators, engineers, industry partners and decision-makers, Extreme H creates an open innovation arena that can help fast-track solutions and inspire wider adoption. Becoming a member of Hydrogen UK will enable Extreme H to connect with a broad cross-section of UK-based organisations working to make hydrogen a commercial and climate success story.

Clare Jackson, CEO of Hydrogen UK, added: “We are very pleased to welcome Extreme H to Hydrogen UK. Motorsport has always been a catalyst for innovation, and Extreme H is proving that hydrogen can deliver thrilling performance while driving forward the technologies and public awareness needed for the UK to reach net zero.

“This is a brilliant example of how hydrogen can decarbonise sectors beyond traditional industry, and how we can inspire and educate new audiences as the racing showcases what a clean hydrogen future can look like.”
