Peugeot delivered its strongest FIA World Endurance Championship performance at the 2025 Lone Star Le Mans, claiming a pivotal third-place finish in treacherous conditions at Circuit of the Americas. The #94 Peugeot 9X8, piloted by Loïc Duval, Malthe Jakobsen, and Stoffel Vandoorne, overcame a mid-pack grid position to secure the podium after a masterful, error-free run that capitalised on the race’s unpredictable weather and multiple neutralisations.

Throughout the six-hour marathon, Peugeot’s technical team leaned on lessons from wet-weather testing in the winter, giving the 9X8 crew an edge as half the Hypercar field struggled for grip and rhythm. While rivals endured spins and penalties, Duval and Jakobsen carefully navigated each restart, demonstrating stamina and strategic discipline. The team ran ultra-low tyre pressures to maximise contact in standing water, an audacious move that stretched the car’s capability without flirting with disaster
Team principal Olivier Jansonnie highlighted the significance of a “mistake-free run,” crediting both drivers and pit strategy for the breakthrough. The decision to focus on survival and consistency, rather than chasing outright pace, proved decisive as the field fragmented amidst changing conditions.

The double top-four finish for Peugeot, with the #93 entry just behind, marks its best ever collective result in WEC. The achievement signals Peugeot’s transformation from underdogs to consistent contenders in Hypercar, suggesting a newfound potential to challenge for regular top honours as the championship moves to Fuji and Bahrain.
