Tasmania’s Greg Crick took on the Touring Car Masters category midway through 2012 after a successful stint in the Australian GT Championship.  Crick was the 2006 GT Champion and had put together a strong 2012 campaign before switching over to the Touring Car Masters.  In the Masters, he found a well run and cost effective historic championship – but one where the drivers aren’t afraid to race.  He races a Chrysler Valiant Charger E55 – maintaining his Mopar relationship.

We haven’t covered much of the Touring Car Masters in the past but it is something we plan to cover throughout the 2013 season.  So, here is a short spiel, from the Touring Car Masters website.

“The Touring Car Masters immediately struck a winning formula, with its mix of classic hero cars and modern improvements, such as disc brakes, dry-sumped engines and radial tyres, producing intense, dynamic racing right from the outset.

Since then, the popular Historic-based series has continued to go from strength-to-strength, lifting the class to become a successful, highly-competitive, affordable and commercially-viable category.

Showcasing a selection of immaculately prepared touring cars of the pre-1976 era, the Touring Car Masters boasts some of the sport’s most iconic muscle cars from Falcon GT’s, BOSS Mustangs, Chevrolet Camaros, Chrysler Chargers and Holden Monaros to the giant-toppling Holden Toranas and nimble Porsche 911 RS’s.” (Source – http://www.touringcarmasters.com.au/History/background.html)
