1 minute with Thierry Neuville after Ypres Rally

Share

It seemed like Thierry Neuville would be a shoo-in for the Ypres Rally. After all he leads the WRC at this stage of the year. But there was more to it.

Hear from the drivers before the rally started

There was able competition from Bryan Bouffier, Kevin Abbring, Vincent Vershueren and Kris Princen. There was also the fact that Neuville had failed to win from six previous attempts, including a DNF last year.

Slowly though the contenders went by the way side. Either through accidents – like Bouffier, mechanical failures – like Abbring, or concentrating on the BRC – like Vershueren and Princen.

In the end, Neuville had 15 stage wins (out of 23) and never looked like putting a foot wrong. He took the win by over 40 seconds and sent Hyundai to victory for the first time in the rally’s history.
