The 2025 FIA World Endurance Championship (WEC) season is poised to deliver an incredible showcase of talent, technology, and competition, featuring a record-setting roster of entries from around the globe. With 36 teams split evenly between the Hypercar and LMGT3 classes, and an impressive 108 drivers across 28 nations, the championship promises thrilling action and dramatic rivalries both on and off the track.

Hypercar
Leading the charge, manufacturers like Aston Martin and Mercedes-AMG are making significant strides in their quests for glory. Aston Martin enters the Hypercar category for the first time, unveiling its two Valkyrie prototypes under the Aston Martin THOR Team banner. Meanwhile, after a 26-year hiatus, Mercedes-AMG returns to Le Mans, teaming up with Iron Lynx in the LMGT3 category, markering a significant moment in their illustrious history.

As the competition heats up, a diverse lineup of 13 major automotive brands will compete, including renowned names like Ferrari, Porsche, Toyota, and BMW. This year’s event not only highlights the intensity of racing but also the remarkable achievements of drivers worldwide. France and the UK lead the representation, both showcasing an impressive roster of 16 drivers each, closely followed by Italy with 14.
In the Hypercar class, reigning Manufacturers’ champions Toyota are determined to extend their dominance. With their formidable pair of GR010 Hybrids, the drivers—Mike Conway, Kamui Kobayashi, and Nyck de Vries in the #7 car, and Sébastien Buemi, Brendon Hartley, and Ryō Hirakawa in the #8—are ready to face fierce competition. Defending Drivers’ champions Kévin Estre and Laurens Vanthoor continue their ambitions in the #6 Porsche Penske Motorsport 963, looking to replicate their past successes.
Ferrari is chasing its third consecutive triumph at the 24 Hours of Le Mans, retaining its strong lineup of drivers—Antonio Fuoco, Miguel Molina, and Nicklas Nielsen in the #50 car, while Alessandro Pier Guidi, James Calado, and Antonio Giovinazzi pilot the #51. Moreover, with the addition of ex-Formula 1 star Kevin Magnussen to the BMW M Team WRT, the stakes are even higher.

GT3
The LMGT3 class is equally compelling, with reigning champions Manthey Racing blending forces with the innovative Iron Dames project. Their all-female trio returns to Porsche for an exciting new chapter. Additionally, Vista AF Corse seeks to build on a strong finish from last season, aiming for victories with its pair of Ferrari 296 GT3s.
Aston Martin’s Heart of Racing Team welcomes Racing Spirit of Léman, featuring Eduardo Barrichello, the son of the celebrated Formula 1 driver Rubens Barrichello. Meanwhile, Endurance specialists United Autosports are ready to showcase their two McLaren 720S GT3 Evos, enhancing the excitement surrounding this season.
The entry of multiple brands into the LMGT3 fray adds further depth to the competition. Teams like Proton Competition, equipped with Ford Mustangs, and Akkodis ASP Team with the Lexus RC F, are raising the stakes as they compete for podium finishes.
As Frédéric Lequien, CEO of FIA WEC, aptly stated, “The scene is set for another stellar season of top-drawer endurance racing action.” With a meticulously crafted entry list and high-caliber teams ready to take on the challenge, the anticipation surrounding the 2025 season is palpable.
