Bjorn Syx’s Impressive start at Rally Van Haspengouw

Bjorn Syx showcased remarkable skill and determination at the recent Rally Van Haspengouw, solidifying his growing reputation in the Kroon Oil Belgian Rally Championship.

Despite facing challenges that could have derailed his performance, Syx managed to secure a solid fourth place, a result that reflected his resilience in tricky conditions.

During the rally, Syx experienced a rollercoaster of emotions. The opening stages proved troublesome, significantly impacting his potential finish. “Some stages went quite well. We were struggling sometimes with a lot of aquaplaning, and it was really scary. I didn’t want to crash the car, but we brought it to the end, and we are happy to be at the finish line,” he stated.

The tough conditions included heavy rain that turned stages into treacherous tracks, amplifying the risks for all competitors. Syx wasn’t spared from the drama of the rally; a flat tire during the first stage set him back nearly two minutes. “I did it myself, so I don’t need to be mad at it,” Syx recounted. Despite the setback, he managed to earn valuable points, including some from the Powerstage, and acknowledged the importance of finishing strong.

“I need to be happy with points here, but we didn’t come to finish in fourth. I need to continue and, no matter what, keep pushing,” Syx emphasized, showcasing his competitive spirit. His words resonated with many of his fellow drivers, who echoed that the challenging conditions were a test of skill and focus.

“It’s really scary. You had aquaplaning driving 160 or 180 km/h, but we made it,” Syx noted, encapsulating the intensity of the rally. The mutual respect among the drivers highlighted the camaraderie that exists within the sport, especially under such demanding circumstances.

Looking forward, Syx is eager to build on his experiences and is already preparing for the next round in the D2 contest at the TAC Rally in March. As he reflects on his journey, it’s clear that his determination to improve and adapt will be key to his future performances in the championship. Fans and fellow competitors alike will be watching closely as this talented driver continues to carve his path in the world of rally racing.
