The finale of the Australian GT Championship presented by Pirelli was been won by Richard Muscat and in the process he has won the Title and we were able to catch up with him.

Muscat joined Erebus Motorsport and their Mercedes SLS GT3 at the start of the season after having a great year in the second tier Porsche series last year.  He was immediately on the pace in Sandown.  He would be battling Tony Quinn in his Aston Martin all year and the two were the only ones in contention coming into the final round.

It was deja vu for the Erebus squad, who in their last full season in the Championship were battling Klark Quinn coming into the season finale.  That year was 2012 and Peter Hackett lost out to Klark.  Two years later Erebus and Muscat didn’t want history to repeat.

Yellow flags and wise racing ensured that Muscat would be taking two wins in the two races, beating out Tony Quinn and his one-off co-driver, Garth Tander for the crown.

In this interview, we talk about the racing, the season and some potential – and exciting – future plans.
