Andrew Gosling (yes that one) has sent us great photos from the AusTest – the official MotoGP test from Phillip Island. We look at some of the rider reactions from this preseason run.

“I felt very good with my GSX-RR, confirming the positive feeling I had already yesterday even though it was in mixed conditions. Today we worked well in two ways; the first is the fastest lap, which gave me the first place, and the second is the approach we had with the development, improving little-by-little but consistently in every run, applying little improvements to the machine without any major change. This consistency gave me not only the fastest lap but also a very comfortable feeling with the pace. Of course the track was a contribution, let’s say.” Maverick Vinales via MotoGP.comTBG43395

“Overall, I believe that today has been positive for us and even though the result is not at the top of the timesheet, our rhythm with the bike is encouraging. We are much closer to the front than we were in Sepang and in addition, my feeling with the bike has improved significantly, so we’ve taken a big step forward. I was able to repeat my fastest time on numerous occasions and on different runs, which is definitely promising and it shows that we are heading in the right direction. The only thing missing from today is that we weren’t able to post a single lap time as it would have been nice to find ourselves a bit higher up in the standings.” Pol Esparago via MotoGP.comTBG42888The weather has not been on our side over these last three days and overall it has been a frustrating test for us because we have suffered some setbacks that have prevented us from being where we would like to be. Yesterday we established a good feeling, today it wasn’t as easy at the start to get on the pace but we made a step forward that helps us understand the bike more.” Yonny Hernandez via MotoGP.comTBG42857aa“It’s been a good test and we’ve managed to get a lot of things out of the way here, so we’re not faced with a massive job in Qatar in two weeks. I think just to feel how it was on the bike here was well worth it and it’s going to be even better in Qatar with an extra two weeks to heal and more physiotherapy, so it’s all good.” Jack Miller via MotoGP.com

“Overall, these three days have been very good. I’m especially happy with today, because we have taken a big step forward. In the afternoon I managed to maintain a consistently fast pace, and this was the first time this preseason that I’ve started to feel good with the bike and the new tyres. It’s a pity that at the end of the session when we wanted to try something else, it was too late.” Marc Marquez via MotoGP.comTBG39820

Having initially set out to do just 25 laps a day to test the state of his still healing leg, Australia’s Jack Miller completed over 100 laps at the Phillip Island test in three days. On the third and final day Miller managed a 1’30.023, his fastest lap of the test, which saw him end 15th on the combined times and a place ahead of his Estrella Galicia 0,0 Marc VDS teammate. “We didn‘t have a lot of time to test in the morning and I did the lap time I set this morning on a rear tyre that already had done 24 laps. I‘ve been riding with old tyres all day because we only had one more new tyre. When we finally got a dry track and time to try that last new rear tyre to set a decent lap time.” Jorge Lorenzo via Motogp.com

“Here in Phillip Island I feel always confident, I like the track and I can express myself as I want, in any conditions. I’m happy to see that the machine is supporting me in this enjoyment, allowing me to be so competitive, I’m improving a lot in my capability to transfer my feelings to the team and they on their side are doing a great job supporting me and giving me good solutions for what I ask for. It’s a learning process for all of us and today’s result gives us an injection of enthusiasm.” Maverick Vinales via MotoGP.comTBG39333

“Like yesterday I continued to build my confidence on the bike today and now we are working through some chassis settings to see how we can make it more suited to my style. I feel that we understand the way for the future but right now we need more performance.” Eugene Laverty via MotoGP.comTBG38833

“The lap this afternoon felt comfortable and I didn’t feel like I was taking any risks. The fall this morning was my error; I had a bit of a moment and pushed the pads back in the calipers, but it was only a small one. I’m really happy with the first test of 2016 and I’m looking forward to Qatar.” Jack Miller via MotoGP.com
