Driving the all-new Audi R18, Audi Sport Team Joest’s André Lotterer, Marcel Fässler and Benoit Tréluyer crossed the finish line today to take their second consecutive win at the 6 Hours of Silverstone after an incredible race-long battle with Porsche.

However, post-race scrutineering revealed that the No.7 car was not in compliance with article 3.5.6 a3 of the LMP1 Technical Regulations (thickness of the front skid block), and the Stewards of the Meeting decided to exclude the car from the race, as detailed in Stewards’ Decision No.27.

The outcome means that the No.2 Porsche 919 Hybrid of Romain Dumas, Neel Jani and Marc Lieb takes the maximum race points from the opening round of the 2016 FIA WEC, with the No.6 Toyota Gazoo Racing being elevated to second place.  The No.13 of Rebellion R-One of LMP1 Privateer Rebellion Racing now finishes third overall in the classification.
