The first major motorsports event of the 2018 motorsports calendar at WeatherTech Raceway Laguna Seca is officially in the books with the conclusion of the Ferrari Challenge. The Ferrari Challenge North America series awarded winners for the second straight day with several drivers able to repeat their feats on the 11-turn, 2.238-mile road course.
Sunday Race 2 winners are Peter Ludwig (Trofeo Pirelli), John Boyd (Trofeo Pirelli AM), Thomas Tippl (Coppa Shell), John Megrue (Coppa Shell AM), and Martin Burroues (458 Challenge).
Cooper MacNeil was unable to return and double down on his Saturday heroics after competing in the Mid-Ohio round of the IMSA WeatherTech SportsCar Championship – also in a Ferrari for Scuderia Corsa – earlier in the day. In his absence, the wide-open Trofeo Pirelli category went to Peter Ludwig in a rout. Ludwig, who has been battling MacNeil atop the points standings, began Race 2 from the pole position and pulled away from the rest of the grid throughout the race.
