It goes without saying that the DG Sport Compétition team will be burning the candles at both ends throughout the Belgian Rally Championship 2020! A mere few weeks after having officially taken on the services of Kris Princen at the wheel of one of their Citroën C3 R5, the Theux based team has announced the presence in eight of the nine rounds of Guillaume de Mévius and his faithful co-driver Martijn Wydaeghe, at the wheel of the second C3 R5, which in addition is with the support of Citroën Racing.
“We are in fact in a position to confirm that Guillaume de Mévius will continue his journey with us”, Alain Georges, the Rally Manager of DG Sport Compétition stated. “And we are more than delighted that this programme, revealed at the end of this week on the Citroën stand of the Brussels Motor Show 2020, will receive the official support from Citroën Racing. With the experience he has built up on the international and world scene, I am sure that Guillaume will be in a position to claim the title at the end of the season. Whatever happens he will find himself in an ideal context, and will already be tacking in a test session prior to the start of the Rally van Haspengouw. And when one knows the manner in which he performed during the last Rallye du Condroz-Huy, we know that the best is still to come … “
“I am truly delighted to be able to continue the adventure with DG Sport Compétition, a team in which I feel at home, and on top of which it is with the official support of a manufacturer,” Guillaume de Mévius continued. “For me this presence throughout the entire Belgian Rally Championship is a return to the roots, because the last time I competed in the entire national championship was back in 2017 in the R2 category. The fact of being teamed up with Kris Princen is a true plus point, seeing such is his experience we will be able to gain interesting information round after round. It goes without saying that the battle between us will be flat out, ceaselessly pushing us forward. Having finished as best Belgian in the recent Condroz, I believe I have proven that I can clearly go all out for victory. That performance could not have been a more timely affair when planning this 2020 programme, and I’m delighted. Bring on Landen! “
Worth noting that this programme was made possible thanks to Mr Laurent Barria, Managing Director of Citroën BELUX, Mr Mayeul Tyl, Director of Peugeot Citroën Racing Shop, as also Mrs Anouk Van Vliet, Communication Director of Citroën Belux, not forgetting the numerous personalities gathered around Guillaume de Mévius, Martijn Wydaeghe and Alain Georges at the Motor Show to formalise the signing of the contract…
Crowned ‘Team of the Year’ during the RACB Awards 2019, DG Sport Compétition will therefore be omnipresent in this new sporting season, with the Frenchman Nicolas Ciamin as from the upcoming Rallye de Monte-Carlo in WRC3 and the duo Princen/de Mévius in the Belgian Rally Championship. The coming months will therefore be pretty intense in the region of Theux …
