The no41 Orlen Team WRT Oreca with Robert Kubica at the wheel took the chequered flag at the end of the 4 Hours of Barcelona to score a debut win for himself, Louis Deletraz and Yifei Ye and the first ELMS win for a Belgian team. The no41 Oreca crossed the line over 20 seconds in front of the no65 Panis Racing Oreca and a further 67 seconds ahead of the no22 United Autosports Oreca in a dominant performance.
Cool Racing Score First LMP3 Win of 2021 Season
The no19 Cool Racing Ligier-Nissan of Nicolas Maulini, Niklas Kruetten and Matt Bell took the LMP3 class win at the end of the 4 Hours of Barcelona. The no4 DKR Engineering Duqueine-Nissan had built up a huge lead in the first half of the race with Laurents Hörr behind the wheel.
Once bronze driver Alain Berg took over the driving duties, the lead shrank significantly as Kruetten closed the gap from over a minute to five seconds, leaving Matt Bell to finish the job in the final hour of the race.
LMGTE: Dominant Win for Iron Lynx in Spain
The no80 Iron Lynx Ferrari 488 GTE EVO of Rino Mastronardi, Matteo Cressoni and Miguel Molina scored the first LMGTE class win of the 2021 season, the first ELMS victory for the Italian team. Molina took the chequered flag at his home track one lap ahead of the no77 Proton Competition Porsche of Jaxon Evans and the no55 Spirit of Race Ferrari of David Perel.
