For LM GTE Am, the morning saw the Iron Dames on top in their Ferrari 488 GTE Evo, with the Hardpoint Racing #99 Porsche just a tenth adrift and the #57 Kessel Racing Ferrari third fastest.

Finally, the afternoon’s LM GTE Am running saw a good mix of competition, with the #57 Kessel Racing Ferrari emerging the top contender with almost half a second’s gap from the #JMW Ferrari, with the #71 Spirit of Race a further half a second off with the third fastest time.

Australian driver Matt Campbell (age 27) is gearing up for his fifth participation in the 24 Hours, at the wheel of Proton Competition’s #93 Porsche 911 RSR-19 in LMGTE Am. He is teamming up with German-born Irish actor Michael Fassbender and Canadian driver Zacharie Robichon. Matt Campbell: “As this is my fifth 24 Hours of Le Mans in a row and both Michael and Zac’s first, my primary role will be to help them as much as possible, especially Michael throughout the weekend, from my past experience. Ultimately, every driver’s goal or dream is to finish on the podium at Le Mans, but our primary goal is to finish the 24 hours.”

There were two other highly anticipated drivers at Scrutineering: Michael Fassbender and Sébastien Ogier. German-born Irish actor Fassbender – seen in X-Men and Quentin Tarantino’s Inglourious Basterds among many others – will take the start in his rookie participation at the wheel of Proton Competition’s #93 Porsche 911 RSR-19. After signing plenty of autographs, he is now gearing up for two days of Test Day. Michael Fassbender: “After four seasons of preparation, here I am at Le Mans. It is super exciting, but also surreal to be doing this legendary race. I am already blown away by the experience. In any case, I am going to give it my all and enjoy this experience as much as possible. There are similarities between driving and acting. The main thing is not to think too much and stay focused on what you have to do.”
