It was a quiet morning at the Boucles Chevrotines: damp roads, muted nerves, and for Lander Depotter, a sense of clarity rare for a driver of 22. With his usual rivals absent, Depotter — co-driven by friend Thibaut Vandeputte — found himself as the sole Junior at the start line of this sixth Belgian championship round. The math was simple: finish, and the Junior title for 2025 was his.

Easy in theory, harder on slick tarmac. The very first stage saw a puncture and a brush with time lost. Then, a front differential gremlin — unwelcome, persistent. “A lot of wheelspin on one side, not great for traction,” he said, pausing only to scribble notes into a weathered notebook. Still, he adapted his driving, gaining speed on the fast rural roads, and quietly climbed to second overall, behind staple winner Sébastien Bedoret.
The day ended with a trophy sweep in Sivry-Rance: second outright, Division 2 victory, top Junior, and a newly minted ‘Driver of the Day’ fan award — all slipped into the boot alongside that season-long goal. The real bonus, though, was the championship: calm, calculated, and a fitting follow-up to Depotter’s Clio Trophy win of 2023.
Meanwhile, news filtered in of rival Lény Cols’s off-road misfortune in France. Racing can shift on luck, but titles demand tenacity and timing. Depotter’s reward is a restful build-up to Spa — and the chance to finish his season as handsomely as he’s steered through it.

Current standings: Depotter 125, Cols 109, Fiasse 58, Eertmans 48, Decock 43, Plattes 22, Dhaene 18, Benoit 12.
