The race in brief

Hard charger Brent Odgers has secured his maiden Porsche GT3 Cup Challenge Australia round win at Queensland Raceway this weekend in a round that capped three new race victors.

Following Michael Almond’s maiden race win on Saturday, Odgers claimed his first victory in the Porsche category in Sunday’s opening race, taking the lead from the start.

The race was soon stopped after a three-car crash at Turn 3, which saw the car of Andrew Menzies make contact with Almond and series leader Kane Rose; ending the trio’s weekend.

Odgers lead on the restart with John Modystach, Jeff Bobik and Adam Marjoram in tow.

Odgers however gained a substantial gap on the field, which he maintained to the chequered flag to become the 18th different GT3 Cup Challenge race winner in the series’ history.

Modystach finished comfortably in second position while Marjoram and Philip Woodbury endured a mid-race battle, with Woodbury taking third and Marjoram fourth.
