From F1 to Sportscar and DTM Hero and we talk in depth to Bernd Schneider as he is racing for Erebus Racing at the 2012 Australian GT Finale in Sydney

German ace Bernd Schneider is back on track this weekend racing for the Erebus Racing squad  – as they race for the Championship with Peter Hackett.

Schneider’s list of achievements is a mile long  winner of the German F3 Championship in 1989, racing in F1 with Zakspeed and Footwork before heading off to sportscars.  He won the Interserie in 1990 and took a podium positions at Sebring in 1991.  Added to his early 1990s success is a win a the Spa 24 Hours in 1990.  He would return to sports cars in 1997 after the DTM went on hiatus.  He raced with Mercedes in the CLK GTR, winning the title with Alex Wurz.  Success at Le Mans alluded him in 1998 when the Mercedes famously flipped with team mate, Mark Webber at the wheel.

Touring cars was where he enjoyed most of his success winning five DTM championships and one International Touring Car Championship.

In this interview (about 20 minutes) we talk to Schneider about his career and his upcoming Sargent Security Australian GT Championship debut with the Erebus Racing Mercedes SLS GT3.
