With the 2013 Australian Formula 3 Championship set to kick of at Bathurst next weekend, we caught up with one of the rookies in the series – Arrie Maree.  Maree will be competing in the National Class with Gilmour Racing in a Dallara F304 Spiess Opel.

Maree has competed in Formula Renault in Europe in the past before going to North America to compete in Skip Barber and Formula F2000, winning three times in the Bridgestone F2000 series in 2008.

After 2009 and his run in Skip Barber, his family emigrated to Australia and he took a sabbatical from racing, until 2012, when he ran a part season in Formula Vee.  2013 sees him take a full season in Formula 3 – and a return to slicks and wings racing.

Maree will be up against Nathan Gotch and Jon Collins for the 2013 National Class Championship.  The National Class Championship is reserved for older Formula 3 cars.

The Australian F3 Championship will take place over seven rounds in 2013.
