We were up for a special treat this week as we were able to catch up with World Touring Car Championship front runner Tom Chilton.  Chilton is competing with the RML team in a Chevy Cruze.  After taking a third and a second in the previous two rounds, the WTCC will be racing at Sonoma this weekend – near Californian wineries.

2013 is his second year in the Championship having competed for many years in the BTCC, taking 12 wins – including his final race at Silverstone  – and 45 podium positions.  2012 saw him and AON Team (Arena Motorsport) come over to the WTCC.  After a tough year in the outdated Ford Focus S2000 he switched to the Championship winning RML team alongside Yvan Muller.  This year has seen a run of strong results for Tom, although he is yet to break through for his first WTCC win.

In this interview we talk with Tom about his 2013 WTCC season, talk about the past with BTCC and switching to the WTCC, talk the future of WTCC and look forward to the remainder of the 2014 season.  We couldn’t resist asking about a little sibling rivalry with his brother Max Chilton and wondered if there was something in the Chilton family water supply that helped make them such great racecar drivers.
