Brendan Reeves has taken his first ECB Australian Rally Championship win in his RallySchool supported Mazda 2 at the National Capital Rally held over the weekend.
After gaining so much pace last year, the Mazda2 and Reeves were able to break Eli Evans’ record run and take both heat wins.

It proved to be a day of absolute carnage at the National Capital Rally in Canberra, with almost every driver finding trouble in extremely mixed weather conditions, yet it was Brendan Reeves in the rallyschool.com.au Mazda 2 that steered clear of trouble to score a dominant Heat win.
The day started with immediate drama with local young gun Rhys Pinter off the road on the very first stage in his Ford Fiesta R2, leading 4WD competitor Ritchie Dalton suffered a broken driveshaft 3.7kms into the first stage while Michael Boaden blew his brand new engine ending his weekend.
The day though went to Reeves, who had stayed clear of the problems that had struck his rivals. “I had a bit of a scare on the first stage of the day, just read a corner wrong and ran wide into the blackberries, and that really made me realise I needed to clean everything up and drive smart,” he said.

The opening weekend of the 2014 season, the National Capital Rally, belonged to Brendan Reeves and the rallyschool.com.au Mazda 2, securing Reeves’ first Round win of his rally career.
After yesterday’s string of retirements, today’s stages in the Kowen Forest proved to be much kinder on cars with the majority of competitors making it through the day’s seven stages.
Reeves held off a determined push by arch rival Scott Pedder to claim today’s second Heat by just 5.4 seconds, to claim the clean sweep of the weekend which included yesterday’s opening Heat win and Friday’s Armor All Power Stage victory.
