B12Hr: Stefan Mucke on Bathurst and the world

Share

SONY DSCOur continuing Bathurst 12 Hour coverage moves to an interview with Craft Bamboo’s Stefan Mucke.  The German ace is no stranger to sportscar fans having competed in GT cars for years and was confirmed with the Aston Martin Racing squad for this year’s FIA WEC effort.

It was a difficult first day for the Craft Bamboo team as they spent the day repairing the #99 car after the early practice shunt.  It left Mucke’s car – the #97 to do much of the work while those drivers found the setup and track familiarisation.

The session went well – “For two of us it was a new circuit – a very challenging circuit” but the team was fast across the top of the mountain and Mucke explains their lack of pace on the other parts of the track – “We are down a little on straight line speed which I’m not sure if we can do anything about”

We also had a chat about the expanding GT Asia where he says that the series is getting to that world class standard and it is important for Asia to have a championship of that standard.  Importantly though he is committed to the FIA WEC and believes that “…this year we want to win it – we have a strong car…we have a strong car that can do it. Our plan is to win the Championship and to win Le Mans.”
