At the 2015 Liqui-Moly Bathurst 12 Hours we caught up with Aaron Zerefos who was racing with the Safe-T-Stop Class B Porsche.

Zerefos has been racing Porsches in Australia and the United States in 2014, a plan that he aims to continue with in 2015.  He also has lofty ambitions to progress his motorsport career and go into stock car racing.  We have a chat about his experiences in both Australia and America – including experience in both sportscar and stock car.  He has some – to some at least – surprising admissions on switching between the two.

Zerefos has a range of business concerns including Fiji Water and like many in sportscar racing, fits these business commitments into his burgeoning racing career. He has competed in the 12 Hour since 2012 and has as start in the Daytona 24 under his belt.  Other key results include a second in the Highlands 101 in New Zealand and a string of strong results in the Australian Mini Challenge.

This year, the team had briefly led the Class B battle but a late race spin at the Chase and time in the pits dropped them down the order. However, it was a strong performance for Zerefos Richard Gartner, Michael Hector and Garth Duffy.  They qualified 6th in class with a 2:10.1716.  This translated to 7th in class in the race.  The lost time ensured they completed 206 laps and without a chance to compete for a higher place.

In this interview we discuss the early Bathurst weekend, Aaron’s 2015 plans and the challenges of switching between sportscars and stock cars.
