Daniel Falzon has been running at the front of the Australian Supersport field for years, taking the 2012, 2013 and 2014 Championships and he has stepped up to the Superbike class for 2015.

It has been a good start too with a fourth and eighth at round 1 at Phillip Island.  Morgan Park would see him take second on the grid and a pair of seconds behind the dominant Mike Jones.  After round 2, he sits second in the Championship. Falzon has stepped up to ride a Yamaha R1 in the ASBK this year.

He was more than a second slower than Jones in qualifying but stepped up a gear in the race to be the only rider that could keep with Jones at any point through the weekend. Through the race he got more to grips with the bike and the circuit and went more than half a second faster in the races than in qualifying.

Falzon got the jump in race two but Jones would soon get the better of him.  He would reel off 1.16 lap times throughout the race to take a comfortable second place – an excellent result for a rider who has just moved up to the Superbike class

We talk about the move to Superbike and the racing over the weekend in this exclusive interview.
