What is ChampTruck?

ChampTruck is open to 2-axle (single-drive axle), Class-8 tractors with commercially available diesel engines between 10-15 liters and manual transmissions.

In order to compete, all trucks must be at least five (5) years old; for the 2015 ChampTruck season, the newest model truck allowed to compete would be a 2010 model year.

Trucks are not allowed to be highly modified; however, comprehensive safety systems, including a full-cab roll cage, competition containment seat, 5-point racing seatbelt harness, fire suppression system and safety fuel cell, are required.

The 2015 Championship

The Meritor ChampTruck World Series engages in 10 races that will eventually crown a 2015 Champion at the November 1st event to be held at Las Vegas Motor Speedway. ChampTruck drivers will earn points in each race they compete in, including each heat-race at every one of the nine regional events. Based on where the driver finishes in each regional race, points are earned towards the podium for BOTH that weekend and the 2015 Championship.

At each regional event, Sunday’s final “Trophy Dash” race will feature an increased point award. And, to mix things up, five of the regional events will be DOUBLE-POINTS events!

  • 22-24 May 2015: Thunderhill Raceway (Road Course) Double Points Event
  • 29-31 May 2015: Pikes Peak Int’l Raceway (Full Roval) Double Points Event
  • 17-19 July 2015: Gateway Motorsports Park (Road Course) Double Points Event
  • 28-29 August 2015: Texas Motor Speedway (Full Roval) Double Points Event
  • 2-4 October 2015: Portland Int’l Raceway (Road Course) Double Points Event

The total points that a team earns over ALL races (Saturday and Sunday) will determine the final race weekend podium standing and the prize money. In this way, the winner of the final race on Sunday may not be the top prize winner for the weekend. Each weekend, all drivers start with zero points. However, the points that each driver earns each race weekend are accumulated and will determine the 2015 ChampTruck Championship.
