The first rally for year – the appropriately name Jänner Rallye has been run in the Austrian snow.

Typically a challenging rally the event this year was no different with snow and ice challenging the competitors this year. The rallye returned after a couple year gap having exited the European Rally Championship. It has returned as part of the Austrian Championship and it was taken out by Johannes Keferböck and Hannes Gründlinger in a Ford Fiesta R5.  They took the win after a heartbreaking mechanical issue (gearbox) for the Mazda 323 of Simon Wagner and Gerald Winter who retired from the lead on the way back to service after the final stage.
