Now it has been announced that a number of races counting for the Belgian Rally Championship will not take place this year, and to allow the national championship to have enough competitions to be able to award a title at the end, DG Sport decided its project to organize a rally in the beautiful Ardennes region of the Semois.

“We have been looking at whether we can organize a rally in this beautiful region in the Belgian Ardennes for more than a year,” says an enthusiastic Christian Jupsin, CEO of DG Sport. “The events following the Covid-19 outbreak have given us extra motivation to speed up the process. I am already one hundred percent convinced that the rally drivers will be impressed by the breathtaking course and that we will be able to establish a perfect organization from the first edition. I also wish to thank in particular Arnaud Allard, the dynamic mayor of Vresse-sur-Semois, who was immediately ready to take up this challenge with us. He also oversaw contacts with neighboring municipalities. Thanks to the municipalities of Bièvre and Gedinne for their agreement in principle, thanks also to the province of Namur for its reactivity. We would also like to announce that Promo Racing, organizer of the Rallye de la Semois, will lend its support to make the first edition of the South Belgian Rally in Vresse-sur-Semois a great success. ” The first edition of the South Belgian Rally in Vresse-sur-Semois will consist of four chrono stages, each of which will be completed three times. Just like in the Spa Rally, Bernard Herman and Florian Jupsin play a major role in determining the course. “We have come a long way in our preparations, and I must admit that I am very enthusiastic about the number of opportunities that this beautiful region offers us,” says Florian Jupsin. “What a pleasure to be able to draw up a route, without having to take into account very great restrictions for the local residents. Because of course we want to keep our impact as small as possible ”, Bernard Herman adds.

As Christian Jupsin pointed out, an organization like this is inconceivable without the support of the municipal authorities. This is also confirmed by Arnaud Allard, mayor of Vresse-sur-Semois: “I am very happy that we can hold a race in our municipality that will immediately count towards the Belgian rally championship. That puts our region in the spotlight. I know the excellent reputation of DG Sport’s professional structure and I am confident that we will see a wonderful event on Saturday 24 October. This event will certainly attract many visitors during the mostly low season, which is a godsend in this complicated year for the hospitality industry. We will of course keep a close eye on the evolution of the Covid-19 pandemic, and all necessary measures will be taken to ensure that this event proceeds in complete safety and in accordance with the applicable regulations. It should also be noted that a protocol has been validated by Minister Glatigny. ”

Practical information about the South Belgian Rally in Vresse-sur-Semois will be announced in the foreseeable future, just as the website www.southbelgianrally.be will be put online soon.
