The result of this Sunday’s Intelligent Money British GT Championship race at Donington Park will remain provisional until further notice following confirmation of an appeal against Silverstone’s result on May 7.

Raceway Motorsport filed an appeal against the disqualification of its #56 Ginetta within the permitted 14 days following the event. This morning (May 25) Britain’s national governing body, Motorsport UK, first officially informed championship organisers, SRO Motorsports Group, that an appeal had been lodged and would be heard during a specially arranged National Court Inquiry Hearing on June 5.

As such, SRO and its organising club, the BRSCC, are unable to apply Compensation Time to Silverstone’s provisional top-three GT4 finishers during Donington Park’s mandatory pitstop. Instead, this time will be calculated and applied once the result is made final after the National Court hearing and verdict.

The appeal’s outcome will not alter Silverstone’s GT3 result nor points allocation. As such, the previous round’s overall top-three finishers – cars #91, #78 and #27 – will all serve Pitstop Compensation Time (20, 15 and 10 seconds, respectively) as normal on Sunday.

GT4 is a different matter. Raceway Motorsport’s #56 Ginetta was leading its class when it received a black flag late in the race after failing to serve a stop-go penalty. Subsequent reinstatement would have the potential to change GT4’s top-three finishers and therefore the entries subject to Pitstop Compensation Time this weekend.

The results from Silverstone and Donington will be made final before British GT’s next event takes place at Snetterton on June 17-18.
