The first round of the 2024 Formula 1 World Championship has come to a close as Red Bull and Max Verstappen picked up where they left off in 2023 with a 1-2 finish as the 3-time World Champion took his 8th consecutive victory going back to 2023 Japanese Grand Prix.

Teammate Sergio Perez made up 3 places to back up Verstappen with Red Bull’s first 1-2 finish since last year’s Italian Grand Prix in Monza as he outpaced both Ferrari’s and the Mercedes of George Russell. Carlos Sainz took the final podium position as Charles LeClerc finished 4th ahead of Russell and Lando Norris. Lewis Hamilton and Oscar Piastri ended their days in 7th and 8th position as the Aston Martin duo of Alonso and Stroll finished 9th and 10th, respectfully.
Alpine managed to finish in 17th and 18th position, aided by an early issue with the Williams of Logan Sargeant and a pit stop problem with the Kick Sauber of Valtteri Bottas, but problems with pace still linger with the Enstone squad as they’ll look to regroup for the next round in Saudi Arabia.
