Only 0.029s separated Oscar Piastri and teammate Lando Norris at the end of Sprint Qualifyinf this afternoon as the Australian driver nabbed pole from his teammate in a last second push to the line. Despite teammate Norris leading both SQ1 and SQ2 in convincing form, Norris was unable to maintain his perfect streak through the weekend as Piastri cleared Norris with a lightning quick middle sector in his final flying lap.
HIGHLIGHTS: Piastri storms to Sao Paulo Sprint Qualifying pole as Hamilton and Perez knocked out early
Charles LeClerc and Max Verstappen took the second row of the grid ahead of Carlos Sainz and George Russell. As in practice is was a mixed bag for Mercedes and this time Red Bull as both Lewis Hamilton and Sergio Perez found themselves on the outside looking in with an SQ2 knockout putting them in 11th and 13th for Saturday’s Sprint Shootout.
Pierre Gasly continued his form from Mexico as the French driver put his Alpine seventh, sharing the forth row on the grid with Liam Lawson. Williams and Alex Albon had another successful qualifying as he starts ninth on Saturday and Haas super-sub Olliver Bearman starts tenth for the American team.
