Emil Lindholm is set to make waves in the World Rally Championship (WRC) as he gears up for the 2025 season. With a clear commitment to his sport and an ambitious agenda, Lindholm announced his primary goal to compete in the WRC2 class, aiming to participate in as many events as possible.

This season, Lindholm will team up with co-driver Reeta Hämäläinen, driving a Škoda Fabia RS Rally2, backed by Toksport WRT. Reflecting on this partnership, Lindholm expressed his enthusiasm, stating, “I’m really pleased to be back with Toksport and Škoda, with whom we won the WRC2 championship. I was involved in developing the Škoda Fabia RS Rally2, so both the car and the team are already familiar to me. In the meantime, the Škoda has probably evolved further, and we’ll see and feel how it performs now when we do our first tests.”

Lindholm’s rallying career is marked by impressive achievements that highlight his talent and determination. In 2022, he clinched the WRC2 World Championship title, which remains his most significant international accomplishment. This victory placed him in the spotlight as one of the leading figures in rallying. Prior to that, he secured the Finnish Rally Championship in 2021, proving his dominance in the competitive Finnish rally scene.

Throughout his career, Lindholm has consistently showcased his speed, recording multiple fastest times in both WRC2 and WRC3 classes. Notably, during the 2019 Rally Finland, he recorded an astonishing ten fastest stage times in the WRC2 class, despite not completing the rally due to technical issues. Additionally, Lindholm has achieved several podium finishes, including a third-place finish in WRC2 at the 2022 Rally Croatia and a second-place finish in WRC3 at the same event.

His first major rally victory in 2019, driving a Volkswagen Polo GTI R5, marked him as a rising star in Finnish rallying, and his reputation has continued to grow ever since.

As the 2025 season unfolds, Lindholm is excited about the unique opportunities ahead. “I’d have loved to compete in Sweden, but the Canary Islands round of the Spanish WRC event is also a very appealing way for me to start the season. For the last couple of years, the championship has lacked a pure asphalt rally, so this will be the first time a rally on the Canary Islands is held at WRC level. As a former circuit racer, this is just the sort of event I enjoy,” he says.

Lindholm also expressed gratitude towards Hyundai Motorsport for their role in his development: “I want to extend my sincere thanks to Hyundai Motorsport for the opportunity to be part of a top-level WRC team. The last year and a half have been extremely valuable, and it’s been fantastic to get seat time in a top-level WRC car as well as invaluable experience of how a first-rate team operates.”

With a wealth of experience and a strong desire to compete in the WRC2 class, Emil Lindholm is certainly a name to watch in the motorsport world as he looks to make his mark in 2025 and beyond.
