The organisers of the Secto Rally Finland have revealed an invigorating new itinerary for the 73rd edition of the event, bringing back legendary roads alongside a fresh interpretation of Super Sunday. Set against the backdrop of Jyväskylä, the home turf of reigning manufacturers’ champions Toyota GAZOO Racing, this year’s FIA World Rally Championship spectacle launches on Thursday, 31 July, with a spirited run through Harju, a 2.5-kilometre super special that artfully marries asphalt and gravel in the heart of the host city.

Friday’s agenda closely mirrors last year’s route, beginning with the 17.96-kilometre Laukaa stage, unchanged from 2024. Notably, the Saarikas stage (15.8km), making its return from the previous year, will run in reverse, while Myhinpää (14.6km) introduces a fresh challenge with a new start point. Renowned for its breathtaking jumps, the iconic Ruuhimäki (7.76km) closes the loop, while another run through Harju concludes the day’s adventures.
Saturday promises a thrilling day of high-speed rally action, commencing with the cherished Parkkola stage (15.55km), which incorporates the esteemed Mäkëla road—often regarded as one of Finland’s finest rally corridors. This is followed by the Västilä (18.94km) and Päijälä (20.19km) stages, leading into a revamp of the historic Leustu (16.39km), a segment locked in time for nearly three decades. The quartet of stages will be repeated in the afternoon.
However, the standout feature arrives with Sunday’s “Ouninday,” a first in WRC history where an entire day is dedicated to the illustrious Ouninpohja stage. This monumental 23.98-kilometre test will see two passes, with the second serving as the coveted bonus points-paying Wolf Power Stage, followed by jubilant podium celebrations in nearby Kakaristo.
Clerk of the Course, Kai Tarkiainen, articulated the goal behind the new stage layout: “We wanted to make this legendary stage as accessible as possible for fans, and we believe this approach offers the ideal solution. There’s ample space along the stage, allowing spectators to seek out the best vantage points and revel in the day’s excitement while enhancing the ease of service provisions.”
Tarkiainen further noted the intricacies involved in designing a rally route: “It’s about finding a balance among various factors. Our top priorities are safety and sporting integrity, but we’re equally committed to crafting a memorable experience for both on-site spectators and television audiences.”
