ASBK 2015 Morgan Park sbk188

We are at the Australian Superbike Championship at Morgan Park this weekend and there was a stunning lap record for pole position with Mike Jones putting in a 1:15.3 – more than a second faster than his closest rival.

This is the first year that the ASBK has visited Morgan Park and while Mike Jones came in with a home track advantage, his time stunned his rivals.

Aboard his Kawasaki XZ10R he had set the pace all weekend, beating out rivals like Daniel Falzon (Yamaha) and Chas Hern on this EBR.

He had set a time of 1:16.1 in the first qualifying session to be fastest and enter into Superpole – the second qualifying session as favourite for pole.

Quite where his 1:15.3 came from will, perhaps forever be a mystery,  He managed to go eight tenths faster in the session, smashing the opposition and taking the Pirelli pole award.

We were able to catch up with Mike just after the session had ended.
