There was no question that Guillaume de Mevius was going to push hard on the JobFixers Belgian Rally Championship opener at the Rally van Haspengouw.
The Peugeot Benelux driver took the Junior title last year in Belgium and upgraded to the R5 Peugeot 208 this year and had a great start to the year with a 5th in WRC2 in Rally Monte Carlo.
He was always going to have work cut out for him on this event. Up against more experienced drivers in the Skodas, he was going to have to push – and keep it on the tarmac to be in with a chance. Added to that, the conditions were unusually dry, giving the Skodas an even bigger advantage.
With Louis Louka alongside, they put in a stellar performance take a podium and be the first non-Skoda driver home just 35 seconds from the winner, Kris Princen.
