Nathan Quinn takes out Bulahdelah Rally

Mark Turon was at the Bulahdelah Rally over the weekend for the AMSAG Pipe King Southern Cross Rally Series. The township, located roughly half way between Rally Australia base, Coffs Harbour and Sydney and saw a strong entry of 59 cars.

It was former Australian Rally Champion, Nathan Quinn with Ray Winwood-Smith who was the strongest, taking the win in their Mazda RX2.

They dominated the event, taking 5 of the 8 stages to win from Jeff Davis/Dane Brooker in a Datsun 1600. The margin was 2min 18 by the end, showing the dominant pace of Quinn.

Third was Dean Ridge/Damian Grahame in a Mitsubishi Evo 7 a further 44 seconds back.

There was further bad luck for Jayke Skeffington in his Subaru WRX, taking the other three stage wins but suffered a severe delay on SS4 – losing 40 minutes, meaning he could finish no better than 30th.

The next round of the Southern Cross Rally Series sees is in Coffs Harbour and is new event for 2019, and includes stages featured in the WRC. It is due to take place on 26 September.
