Lydden Hill was home to the 5 Nations British Rallycross Championship over the weekend. The newly revised circuit that had been put in place for the Nitro Rallycross earlier in the year would see all of the BRX classes take to the new circuit in what transpired to be an eventful weekend.

Patrick O’Donovan managed to claim the Supercar title on Saturday with what can only be classed as one of the best finals I have seen. Under floodlights and rainy conditions, Patrick lead from the start and dominated the whole final in what was a true masterclass in rallycross driving as he finished a clear 38 seconds ahead of second place Julian Godfrey and third place Derek Tohill. This now makes Patrick the youngest person ever, to win the Super Car Class.

Sunday would have seen the Supercars take part in the final round of 2022 as the runner-up spot was still in contention along with several of the still to be decided support races. After heavy rain overnight, the track team at Lydden Hill worked tirelessly in an effort to clear standing water. But due to the continuing heavy rainfall and a Yellow Weather Warning issued by the MET Office for the duration of the day, racing had to be abandoned on safety grounds. Where possible, results will be declared from the qualifying races held on Saturday and published in due course.

The 2023 schedule for British Rallycross has been decided pending Motorspork UK approval and will see the Supercars head to Dreux again in October along with an overseas stint in what is yet to be decided for the support classes. Pembrey will again see two double-header rounds as will Lydden Hill.
