NASCAR: Denny bumps Larson for the win in Kansas

It took a little more rubbin’ than racin’, but Denny Hamlin final kicked the winless monkey off his back and extended his run of wins for Toyota, 23XI and Joe Gibbs at the Kansas Speedway on Sunday. Coming off a fast start in Dover, Hamlin had a fast ride that wasn’t able to overcome mistakes on pitlane, however on Sunday he was in contention for the win as he and Hendrick’s Kyle Larson dueled at the end for the win. Coming into turn three on the final lap, Hamlin took advantage of Larson’s already loose racecar and made him looser, pulling a perfect bump-and-run for the win – his 49th of all time – cementing him 15th on the list of all-time wins in NASCAR over Hall of Famer and multi-time champion, Tony Stewart.

Larson would continue to finish second ahead of teammate and polesitter William Byron, while Bubba Wallace – winner in the fall 2022 race – would take home a solid 4th place finish for Denny’s 23XI team. Ross Chastain, once again involved in several on-track incidents, took his “Don’t give an eff” Tour to a new level duking it out with rookie Noah Gragson on pitlane after his 5th place finish.

Joey Logano and Chase Elliott finished 6th and 7th respectively, while last weeks winner Martin Truex Jr. took home 8th ahead of fellow Toyota and COTA winner Tyler Reddick. Rounding out the top-10 was RCR’s Austin Dillion.
