His run at the top continued Friday afternoon as Lanod Norris continued to lead the field ahead of teammate Oscar Piastri and the Red Bull of Sergio Perez. As windy conditions prevailed with the threat of rain looming – weekend projections showed a 60% chance – drivers began complaining of a slowing track as the tricky winds caught drivers out on their flying laps.

Max Verstappen set the benchmark early on a set of medium tires as much of the field followed suite for their respective opening runs. The changing conditions caught Charles LeClerc out early as he complained of struggling in the high-speed sections of Silverstone. Carlos Sainz seemed to hint that the track was slowing down due to the wind before Verstappen set the then quickest lap of the session on a set of new soft compound tires.
The threat of rain in the final moments of the session prompted several teams to change run plans as fast lap runs became the name of the game. Lando Norris took advantage of the changing track and promptly went quickest overall by three tenths over teammate Oscar Piastri as the rain began to come down over the circuit.
With Friday’s running concluded, all focus shifts to the final free practice session and the 3-rounds of qualifying for Sunday’s British Grand Prix. All of the days action kicks off tomorrow morning at 11:30 local time.
