Formula 1’s final practice session before this weekends Las Vegas Grand Prix closed this evening with the Mercedes of George Russell continuing to lead the way as the British driver outpaced McLaren’s Oscar Piastri and the Ferrari of Carlos Sainz before a late-session red flag halted the action on track.
With cold and dusty conditions still prevalent, drivers took their time coming up to speed in the session as some emerged early on to test the grip levels, with some – like Sergio Perez – complaining they were unable to find any sense of rhythm given the low amount of grip. As the practice clicked past the 20 minute mark only Perez and teammate Verstappen had posted a time, but before long the Constructors title leaders of Norris and Piastri dropped in their own flying laps, some 6 seconds quicker than the Bulls.

At just past halfway, it was a different look at the top of the scoring sheets as Kevin Magnussen held the top spot over Charles LeClerc and teammate Nico Hulkenberg before Mercedes came back out on a set of soft compound tires to lower the benchmark further as Hamilton once again took the top spot away in front of George Russell. After some complaining and a trip to the garage, Verstappen then made his attempt at stealing away the quickest time as the Red Bull team swapped his tires out for fresh softs as he managed to edge out the Mercedes duo, although only briefly as the Red Flags flew for the stalled car of Lance Stroll.
With only a small amount of time remaining, a few drivers went out for one final run as George Russell reclaimed the top spot ahead of Piastri and Sainz, as Lando Norris and Verstappen finished the session in forth and fifth. Lewis Hamilton, only managed the sixth quickest time after leading both sessions on Thursday, whilst the Williams pair of Albon and Colapinto finished seventh and eighth. Kevin Magnussen and Pierre Gasly rounded out the top ten.
