Mercedes and Lewis Hamilton swept the top spot on Friday as second practice came to a close on the Vegas Strip as Lando Norris split the Mercedes pair , 0.011s off Hamilton’s time while championship leader Verstappen struggled at the bottom of the time sheets as Red Bull battled continued pace issues with their rear wing configuration.

With a strong session already in the bag, Mercedes came out charging in the much colder FP2 session as Hamilton dropped a quick benchmark time before red flags flew near the halfway mark. After a brief stoppage while marshals collected the stopped Williams of Alex Albon, drivers jumped back on track as the tricky colder conditions started show a grid mix up that saw both Haas drivers in the top 10 as Red Bull fell back near the bottom of the timesheets.
Following the Hamilton, Norris, Russell blockade, Ferrari ended their session forth and fifth ahead of the Alpine of Pierre Gasly. Kevin Magnussen and Oscar Piastri were seventh and eighth on the session while Nico Hulkenberg and Yuki Tsunoda ended the session in ninth and tenth.
