Earlier this year we were able to catch up with former F1 and Le Mans pilot, Christian Klien as he prepared to race at the Bathurst 12 Hours.

Klien raced in 51 Grands Prix with Jaguar, Red Bull and HRT.  He also tested with BMW and Honda before they both pulled out of F1.  His best result was sixth in the 2004 Belgian GP.  He was a star of the Red Bull driver program winning the Formula Renault 2000 Championship and was second in the F3 Euro Series.  His F1 timing was always poor – driving for Red Bull during their lowest ebb and potential race seats with Honda and BMW disappearing as they did from the sport.

He moved onto to sportscars, racing with Peugeot in 2008 and 2009, achieving a third overall at Le Mans in 2008.  Two races for Aston Martin were to be all he could have in 2011 as the AMR-One proved to be disastrous.  To date, his only race in 2012 has been the Bathurst 12 Hours, where he finished second in class in a Lotus Exige.

In this interview we talk his F1 career, sportscars, his thoughts on the WEC and the Peugeot withdrawal.
