Coming into the end of the Wedding Bells stage, Wilde secured third place in the Coats Hire Rally Australia
Renault’s Tom Wilde has been setting great times in the ECB Australian Rally Championship (ARC) since joining the squad this season. His thrid place in the ARC at the Coats Hire Rally Australia is testament of his progress and competitiveness in the Australian rally scene.
As Wilde explains in the interview It wasn’t all plain sailing at Rally Australia but he did manage to step on the podium. He currently lies third in the Championship behind the all conquering Eli Evans and teammate Scott Pedder. Through the year, Wilde has taken multiple podiums and stage wins.
Wilde has come through the Western Australia rally series, taking out the State Championship in 2010 before moving to the national series in 2011 with a Mitsubishi Evo. As the Championship went to the 2 wheel drive formula and attracted more interest from manufacturers, he was picked up by the Renault team who run the Clio R3. Bill Hayes is his codriver, who won the Asia Pacific Rally Championship for codrivers in 2011.
Tom is a Cheesemaker at his family’s business Cambray Cheese in Nannup WA and is also a member of Slow Food and represented Australia in Italy in 2006 and 2008 as a junior food producer. We distracted Tom from his cheese making to have a chat about Rally Australia.
