DG Sport, organizer of the South Belgian Rally 2020, and Arnaud Allard, mayor of Vresse-sur-Semois, were disappointed and sadly obliged on Thursday morning to attend the first edition of the South Belgian, third round of the JobFIXers Belgian Rally Championship 2020, to postpone. This is of course a result of the increasingly worsening Covid 19 situation.

“A serious disappointment, indeed”, confirms Arnaud Allard, mayor of Vresse-sur-Semois. “But from an ethical and moral point of view, and out of respect for healthcare workers, it is the only possible solution. I was in contact with the Minister of Sport of the Wallonia-Brussels Federation, the provincial governor of Namur, as well as with my fellow mayors from the other municipalities involved in this event. Out of respect for the current situation in hospitals, it is impossible for us to continue organizing this event, an event that I have fully supported since the start. Given the current sanitation situation, it is not reasonable to bring people together during a non-essential activity. Working with a professional organization like that of DG Sport has been a real pleasure, and I am very sad about this outcome. But this is only a reprieve. We will do everything we can to offer the fans a great starting field at the next edition. ”

“A choice of the mind”, adds Christian Jupsin on behalf of DG Sport. “Everything was ready for us, but of course we cannot ignore the seriousness of the current situation and the consequences in hospitals. It is the second time since the start of the Covid-19 crisis that DG Sport has had to postpone a game, which is obviously not ideal, far from even. But by making this choice, we also maintain a good relationship with the local, provincial and regional authorities. Rest assured, there will be a period after this Covid crisis, so we are already preparing now. It goes without saying that I am very sad for our entire team, which has put all its energy into organizing this rally, but also for the people involved in the Belgian rally championship. ”
