“The championship has to be the target,” the 22-year-old told WRC.com. “Škoda has enjoyed so many wins and so many titles – I want to carry on with that next year. It’s fantastic for me to have this agreement with a company and a team like Škoda Motorsport.”
Solberg’s 2024 programme hasn’t been confirmed yet, but the Swede is expected to start the season opener, next month’s Rallye Monte-Carlo.
“Honestly, I don’t think so much will change from what we saw last year in terms of running the car,” said Solberg. “I’m hoping I can work on some more testing and development with Škoda – that would be cool. Basically, I don’t want to get out of the Fabia once I get in it!
Head of Škoda Motorsport Michal Hrabánek said: “We are very happy to continue our relationship with Oliver and Elliott. We saw great speed from them this season and I’m sure this will be the same into 2024.
“Winning WRC2 this year was another demonstration of the consistent performance of the Fabia RS Rally2 – having Oliver with us for next season puts us in a very strong position to continue this winning story.”
